Summary of Duties

Responsible for the recruitment of first-year and transfer students. Represents the university at off-campus events, meets with prospective students, performs outreach and follow-up with students, counsels and corresponds with potential students, applicants and enrolled students. Occasionally visits high schools, community colleges and/or other outreach sites representing The Ohio State University, making formal presentations and answering questions regarding admission, financial aid, academic and extracurricular programs. Using data and innovation, seeks new initiatives to work more efficiently and to think creatively about the recruitment of students. Additional responsibilities may include: the supervision of student telecounselors in the office one evening each week, playing an important role in the office’s involvement in orientation, supporting event planning efforts and working collaboratively with other staff members in the organization of our College Credit Plus program. Assists the admissions team in planning for the future by using a student-centered, data-driven, innovative and creative approach.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in counseling or college admission.

Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree in an appropriate field.
