Summary of Duties

The Electrical/Computer Sr Lead Engineer for Student Programs within the Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME), serves as a technical expert focused in electrical engineering and programming; this position is responsible for mentoring graduate and undergraduate research assistants in the execution of industry-, CDME- and student-led projects relating to the commercialization for new technology through integrated design and manufacturing approaches; designs and implements training programs; collaborates with CDME leaders and industry partners to ensure projects are completed in accordance project scoping; works with industry partners to design and implement select certificate programs; works closely with OSU faculty, CDME staff and students to coordinate multidisciplinary tasks; suggests process improvements and leads implementation; teaches courses as needed and manages training program offerings; establishes and manages the training facilities and equipment requirements; utilizes expertise and leadership in determining technical solutions for complex problems drawing upon personal experience, Ohio State University faculty, outside sources/suppliers, and staff within CDME; ensures disciplined project management processes are followed, and reports issues to CDME and program leaders, as needed; bridges the gap between fundamental technology research and industry need for applied technology solutions; supervises and trains student employees; works with CDME, College of Engineering, and University business development staff to create industry strategic partnerships and program for students.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in electrical/software engineering or related field, or 6 years of progressive technical experience in a manufacturing setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience; 5 or more years of experience working with students (mentoring and training all levels); familiarity with the advanced tools and software in the engineering field; experience and/or training in electrical engineering and systems production manufacturing and product development; strong written communication skills; firsthand experience integrating new technology into products and manufacturing environment; experience in Solidworks PCB and Electrical Designs, C, Linux programming; National Instruments Test, Measurement and Control equipment, Labview programming and implementation; FPGA design.

Desired Qualifications

Code and standards experience (IEEE, IPC, etc.).

Target Salary $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 Annually
