Summary of Duties

Under the direction of the Communications and Marketing Manager, the Web Communications Specialist will manage our website: www.moritzlaw.osu.edu. He/she will be responsible for upgrading and maintaining this multi-state website, using WordPress plug-ins and custom themes to ensure high performance, consistency, and a great user experience. This person will assist with back-end maintenance of databases, custom forms, and online payment options.

The Web Communications Specialist will work extensively with our graphic designer and should be motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. He or she will transfer the design mockups to technical implementations that will define how the application works.

This position plays a key role in our overall digital strategy and will integrate social media and digital storytelling into current website and communications plan. The Web Communications Specialist will monitor web innovations and make recommendations for new features and tools. Experience with WordPress, HTML5, PHP, MySQL, CSS, Google Analytics, Adobe Photoshop, and Java Script, is required.

The college communications office is set up as a creative team. The Web Communications Specialist must be able to work as a team player, be flexible, and be a creative problem-solver under tight deadlines. This position will work with the communications team to supervise the work of a student intern. This position also works with a variety of faculty and staff from Moritz and across the University.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or journalism, or equivalent combination of education and experience; writing experience; experience with print publications, web publishing and project management; knowledge of WordPress, HTML, PHP/MySQL, CSS, Google Analytics, and Adobe Photoshop.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of ADA website compliance requirements; experience with iMovie or Final Cut Pro.
