Summary of Duties

The Associate Director of Learning Programs will lead key projects, programs, and initiatives in Learning Technology within the Office of Distance Education and eLearning (ODEE). Included in these programs will be strategic oversight, management, and visioning of Ohio State’s Unizin participation. This will include organizing future-focused and day-to-day collaborations and projects both internally at Ohio State and externally with consortium partners regarding all Unizin initiatives, activities, communications, and events.

Additionally, the Associate Director will lead technical implementation of Ohio State’s Digital Flagship initiative, a comprehensive, university-wide digital learning program that will support student learning, workforce development, faculty teaching, and app development via coding, learning, and support. This position will specifically focus on technical support, security and privacy strategies, and student technology deployment for the initiative which will reach approximately 11,000 students per year across all Ohio State campuses. This position will actively communicate and engage with the Senior Director of Learning Programs and other leaders throughout the Office of Distance Education and eLeanring (ODEE) and the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) to design and implement a high quality technical model to support the student, faculty, and staff experience within the Digital Flagship initiative.

Through transparent communication, relationship stewardship, and strategic thinking, the Associate Director will provide responsive leadership and consistent oversight to ensure customer support, service, and experiences are exemplary for all users across the Ohio State community. The Associate Director of Learning Programs will also provide focused support of strategic visioning across Learning Technology within the Office of Distance Education and eLearning, including working with leaders to ensure that a consistent vision of the future state of our work is continuously being developed, revised, and communicated. The Associate Director will foster, develop, and contribute to a team environment that believes in open communication and collaboration and strives to represent the core values and strategic goals of OSU and ODEE at all times.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 10+ years of professional experience in education in a role related to educational technology, customer support, and faculty engagement; 5+ years of managerial experience at an education institution, theoretical and applied experience with learning theory to connect solutions to curricular goals; experience implementing and integrating a range of technologies for teaching and learning; ability to work across academic content areas, technologies, software, and tools; high quality customer service skills in an education setting.

Desired Qualifications

Experience managing and successfully executing multiple high stacks projects and initiatives; multiple presentations at national/international education conferences; experience designing, developing, and evaluating online courses and learning materials; familiarity with copyright or accessibility considerations; familiarity with multimedia or web standards; experience with academic assessment methods and social science research protocols.

Target Salary $79,016.00 - $96,576.00 Annually
