Summary of Duties

This position will report directly to the Associate Vice President for the Industry Liaison Office (ILO). The Industry Liaison Collaboration Analyst will reside in the ILO and, in conjunction with the AVP for the ILO, will analyze, review, comment on, and develop policies, procedures, and their functional interpretations within the institution’s research, academic, and business enterprises to optimize external partnerships and collaboration with the private sector. Identify existing institutional policies, procedures, and practices that impact industry partnerships and strategic relationships; develop template research, service, and testing agreements and negotiating strategies and guidelines for use by university personnel on the front-lines of business development with the private sector; codify a standardized institutional full reimbursement cost rate for private sector research, as well as full institutional cost recoveries for testing and service agreements run through university earnings units; establish policies, procedures, practices, and support systems to enable the appropriate handling, distribution, and tracking for Technology Access Fees (TAF) paid by private sector partners; catalyze discussion among the applicable university stakeholders to identify workable export control regulation response boundaries as a function of law, risk mitigation, and best business practice; and frame a set of clearly delineated response options commensurate with risk and business opportunity while staying within legal requirements. Work with Research Compliance to develop and/or revise export control training modules for both faculty and support personnel.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; extensive experience in academic research, research administration, technology commercialization and industry collaboration; knowledge of federal and state regulations, the commercial deployment of university-created technology, contracting with private sector sponsors and partners, and rules, policies and guidelines involving the administration of sponsored programs; expertise in negotiating research contracts, intellectual property terms, and licensing agreements; experience identifying, assessing, and resolving industry partnership, sponsored research, and technology deployment challenges and opportunities in higher education.

Desired Qualifications

Doctoral or advanced degrees in biomedical, physical, behavioral science, and/or law or equivalent combination of education and experience; ability to develop strong relationships and work with senior-level administration and faculty to reach one-university, outcome driven solutions; outstanding verbal, written and visual communication skills.

Target Salary $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 Annually
