Summary of Duties

The College of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Medical Center seeks two registered veterinary technicians to join the Small Animal Emergency/Critical Care Unit of the Small Animal Medicine Section of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This opportunity will allow the successful candidates to assist team clinicians and care-giving colleagues with the reception, treatment, and monitoring of all patients within the SA ECC unit. Additionally the successful candidates will oversee and instruct professional veterinary students in preparation of animals and equipment for medical procedures and delivery of care. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: supervising and performing ordered treatments for ECC and hospitalized patients; assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; transmitting case updates to oncoming colleagues; assisting in care of emergency cases brought to small animal receiving area; and preparing and submitting charge tickets for all services rendered according to hospital fee schedules. The successful candidates will be expected to work 40 hours a week on first shift, 7:00am-5:00pm and will be expected to rotate between weekdays and weekends. Holidays are required and will be based on a team rotation. This position will be eligible for shift differential for evening hours and weekend hours worked. Successful candidate must be a Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Ohio and complete a background check.

Additional Information for Applicants:

The person in this position will be expected to lift 40-50 lbs.; risks involve exposure to rabies, other zoonotic diseases, exposure to needle sticks, parasiticides, animal inflicted injuries, anesthetic gases, chemotherapy, gamma ray equipment, irritant chemicals.

Pre Employment Screening Requires the successful completion of a background check.
Required Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in Animal Health Technology from an approved AVMA Technician Program; minimum of one year of previous and related work experience; ability to obtain OVMLB License prior to start date.
