Summary of Duties

The Extension Educator, Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) and Community Development (CD), will work collaboratively with a team of Extension professionals and volunteers to provide leadership for the development of educational programs and applied research in agriculture, natural resources, and community development to meet current and future needs in farm management, livestock and crop production, food security, home horticulture/Master Gardeners, farm land-use issues, innovative agricultural business opportunities, environmental quality and sustainability, renewable energy, bio-based products, economic development, leadership development, and organizational development; implement local and regional economic development programming (in conjunction with the Adams and Highland county ANR/CD positions) through coordination with local partners to create results for the county; coordinate and teach economic development programs such as entrepreneurship development, business retention and expansion, e-Commerce, retail market analysis, and economic impact analysis where appropriate and applicable; plan, organize, and teach programs focused on home and farm energy efficiency, on-site renewable energy development, marketing, and other emerging issues; coordinate and teach leadership development programs; design new Emerging Leaders programs with young adults to involve them in the community; plan, teach, and evaluate educational programs on public agricultural issues such as crop production, home horticulture/Master Gardeners, livestock and food safety, forestry, natural resources, water resources, land use, environmental education, and marketing, including programs that support rural economic and business development with a focus on building/enhancing systems and creating new economic development opportunities; develop and work closely with local advisory committee(s), agriculture and natural resources agencies/groups, county commissioners, and community forums to assess needs and assist in the development and evaluation of Extension programs; effectively utilize various teaching methods to assist the community in implementing a balanced development approach; ensure diversity among potential clientele and learners, and equal access to programs and facilities.

Required Qualifications

An earned Master’s degree is required at the time of hire. Do you have an earned Master’s degree with at least one degree in agriculture, natural resources, public administration, business administration, community planning, community development, applied economics or a related field?

Screening interviews for selected candidates will be held on December 6,7, or 8, 2017 in Columbus, OH.

PLEASE NOTE: If you will receive your graduate degree at the end of the present quarter or semester, we may consider you for this position. Please have your major advisor email stating that all degree requirements have been met and your expected graduation date.
